Isn’t it strange the way we only call in the help of experts in some fields after our issue has reached the point of no return? That leaking water pipe in the toilet is usually left until eventually the whole pipe blows up and the whole house ends up receiving an instantaneous wash! Why didn’t we phone the plumber earlier? And that bizarre noises the vehicle is all of a sudden making is typically dismissed until the engine eventually blows up and we are trapped in the fast lane on the freeway in peak hour traffic! Why didn’t we contact the auto technician sooner?
In terms of electricity, we act no different. Generally electricians are only contacted after severe damage has already been caused! And with something as dangerous as electricity and electrical wiring, that is clearly not such a sensible action!
It is simple enough to identify small problems ourselves. Usually when a lamp fixture won’t turn on, we’ll first check if the light fixture is properly plugged in and switched on at the outlet. The next step should be to check out if the bulb is working. Still no luck? With a bit of expertise on electric power, it would be possible to see if the lamp’s switch is properly working and if the cable is not faulty… but other than that, there isn’t a great deal more that the average person on the street should experiment with. Don’t try to be a superhero and electrocute yourself along the way. Call in the help of qualified electricians – the fault is perhaps more advanced than it might appear at first glance.
Just like other professions, qualified electricians undergo extensive training. When wiring a house, workplace, car or even a plane it is critical that the job is performed properly to avoid malfunction, damages or even electrocution!
Some people tend to be reluctant to call in the assistance of electricians until it’s practically too late. Since electricians generally charge a callout fee on top of the work involved (whether or not the job takes them only five minutes to take care of) the customer can often be left with (in their minds) a large invoice. This is sometimes difficult to understand, since electricians are really qualified and knowledgeable experts. Would you, as a financial consultant, be prepared to drive to a customer for a meeting and provide your time and energy and professional advice free of charge? Or if you are a physician, would you do a consultation without charging? Why then is it any different when it comes to occupations such as electricians, plumbers and locksmiths? Even in the event that your defective socket took only five minutes to deal with, it still probably took at least an hour or so out of the electrician’s day.
Remember that electricity is a valuable resource that needs to be looked after! To avoid using unnecessary electricity; always disconnect appliances when it’s not being used. Try to properly insulate your home so that the home stays cooler in summer and warmer in winter – by doing this you’ll be able to scale back on your air conditioning and heater usage too!
Great electricians are friends in need – always remember what an important role they play in our lives!
